As a Materials man/woman(Storeman/woman) you will be responsible for the maintenance of the stores and ordering and receiving of stock.  It is vital to be computer literate for this position and although this is considered a very easy position to hold, it does require being available at any time of the day or night for cargo coming aboard.  The salary that one can expect for this position is $59,000.

Although this position does vary from one rig to another, this is an entry level position with room for advancement.  The positon usually stars at Materials Handler or sub materials person and can lead with experience to Senior Materials Person.  This is one of the few roles that woman are comfortable in on the rigs

The position involves:-

•    Being in charge of the maintenance of stores
•    Ordering and receiving stock
•    Issuing disposal and recovery of mechanical systems
•    Ensuring all transactions are performed accureately
•    Dealing with Physical Inventory Audits
•    Handling the reconciliation of internal and external storage locations
•    Dealing with reports on unsafe conditions and events

Having a background in warehousing and materials handling will be very beneficial and it is vital to be computer literate.
